🚀Bleasdale Vineyards Triumphs at Langhorne Creek Wine Show

At the Langhorne Creek Wine Show this year, Bleasdale Vineyards wins Champion Wine of Show, and Bremerton Wines wins Producer of the Year with an astounding five trophies, including traditional and alternative varieties. As a fitting farewell to his tenure at Bleasdale Vineyards, departing winemaker Paul Hotker showcased his Malbec prowess once more. The Bleasdale 2022 Generations Malbec won the Multi-Color Corporation Champion Wine of Show title and the New Holland Agriculture Best Malbec trophy. After 15 years of collaboration with Paul, new senior winemaker at Bleasdale Matt Laube accepted the trophy on the team's behalf.While this was going on, Bremerton Wines and winemaker Rebecca Willson took home an astounding five trophies, including Belvidere Winery Producer of the Year. They also gave attendees of the Langhorne Creek Wine Show luncheon a taste of both traditional and non-traditional varieties. Chief Justice's Chair For the 2024 judging, Sue Bell was joined by associate judges Sam Rowlands, Tyler Follett, and Jordan McAnaney, as well as wine writer Dave Brookes and Riley Harrison from Harrison Wine. According to Sue Bell, Langhorne Creek can truly rest its hat on the Malbec class, which is represented particularly well by the 2021 and 2022 vintages. "The Bleasdale 2022 Generations Malbec emerged victorious, albeit not without fierce competition, with a balance of poise, fruit, and tannin." Bleasdale 2022 Frank Potts Cabernet-blend, along with Paul Hotker, won the Cooperages 1912 Best Blended Red Wine trophy. Bremerton Wines and Rebecca Willson won three trophies this year: the Jon Burke Creative Digital Video trophy for best red or white made from alternative or other varieties, which went to the Bremerton 2022 Special Release Graciano; the Orora Closures trophy for best Cabernet Sauvignon, which went to the Bremerton 2022 Coulthard Cabernet Sauvignon; and the Project Wine Pty Ltd trophy for best Shiraz, which went to the Bremerton 2021 Selkirk Shiraz.

Sue Bell also presented Bremerton with the Chair of Judges trophy for the Bremerton 2023 Special Release Mourvèdre. The Lake Breeze 2023 Reserve Chardonnay won the FrostBoss Best Sparkling Wine, White Wine, or Rosé trophy; Treasury Wine Estates' Pepperjack 2016 Porterhouse Graded Langhorne won the Daish Irrigation / Netafim Best Museum or Fortified trophy. Creek Shiraz, and in recognition of his contribution to the Langhorne Creek wine region, Dale Wenzel was named Peats Soil & Garden Supplies Grape Grower of the Year. 200 grape growers, winemakers, trade, suppliers, and winery employees gathered for the awards ceremony on Friday, May 17, in a marquee on the breathtaking lawns of Bleasdale Vineyards. It was a regional celebration of the end of the vintage.
